European Painting on Albania
and the Albanians
Deutsch | Shqip European and international painters and artists have often used Albanian motifs in their works. Some of them were inspired in the nineteenth century by their travels in Albania and Greece, other portrayed the Albanians as they imagined them, without ever having visited the region. In this section, we offer a few representative collections of such painting. The spectrum as a whole is much larger. For further information, the reader may consult Ferid Hudhri’s richly-illustrated volume: Albania through Art (Tirana 2007).
